A 100 kWh battery storage cabinet can suit commercial and light industrial sites for peak management, solar self-consumption or defined backup loads. Verify usable energy, power, floor or foundation loading and handling access for the selected cabinet; capacity alone does not establish siting or offloading requirements.
This page covers the cabinet as supplied: what the ratings mean, what arrives with it, and what has to be settled before it ships. It is written for installers, EPCs and facility teams turning a requirement into a purchase order.
What the ratings actually mean
Three numbers decide whether a 100 kWh cabinet does the job, and only one of them is on the headline.
- Usable capacity is the energy available within the permitted operating window. Confirm whether the quoted 100 kWh is nominal or usable, and the conditions under which usable energy is measured.
- Power rating decides whether the battery can cover your peak at all. The same 100 kWh at 0.25C delivers 25 kW; at 0.5C it delivers 50 kW.
- Cycle life depends on depth of discharge, temperature, charge/discharge rate and the end-of-life criterion. Compare the selected model test basis and warranty conditions, not a cycle count alone.
If you compare on kWh alone, the power rating gets chosen for you, and it is usually the one number that decides whether peak shaving works at all.

Figures are selection references. Confirm the final ratings, dimensions, available certifications and warranty against the current datasheet and written proposal for the selected model or system.
What arrives in a typical order
- The battery cabinet with integrated battery management and thermal management.
- Fire detection and mitigation equipment as specified for the selected system and approved installation.
- DC isolation and internal protection, wired to the connection point.
- Anchorage detail and the clearance drawings your authority works from.
- Installation manual, commissioning checklist and warranty terms.
Where the project needs it, the hybrid or power conversion inverter, the AC coupling panel and the automatic transfer switch are quoted on the same order, so the interfaces are confirmed once rather than by three suppliers.
Where a 100 kWh cabinet usually goes
- Demand-charge management on a commercial or light industrial supply, where the peak is sharp and short.
- Time-of-use arbitrage, charging overnight and discharging into the afternoon peak window.
- Backup for a defined circuit list, where the requirement is a number of hours for specific loads rather than whole-site coverage.
- Raising self-consumption on an existing rooftop array that exports more than the tariff rewards.
- Small microgrids and remote sites, where the cabinet replaces a generator for part of the day.
Sizing notes before you order
- Start from the interval load data, not from a round number. The peak and its duration decide the power rating; the energy rating follows from how long the peak lasts.
- Decide whether the battery is AC-coupled or DC-coupled. AC coupling is easier to add to an existing array; DC coupling is more efficient on a new build.
- Check the operating envelope of the room or the yard. Cycle life is quoted at a temperature, and a cabinet in an unconditioned space in a hot climate will not reach the datasheet figure.
- Settle the fire-code path before the layout is frozen. Separation distance, detection and egress are what the authority reviews, and they are easier to design in than to add later.
Packaging, minimum order and delivery
- Minimum order: one cabinet.
- Packaging: shipped complete on a skid, shrink-wrapped and strapped with corner protection.
- Handling: forklift or pallet truck at the delivery point. Confirm door widths and floor loading before the truck is booked.
- Delivery: U.S. domestic freight to the address you nominate, from U.S. warehouse inventory with dispatch timing confirmed for the selected model and delivery address for stocked configurations.
Documentation to confirm for your order
- Where required for the selected system, confirm the applicable UL 9540 listing and available UL 9540A test data, including the configuration and installation conditions covered.
- Confirm transport test documentation for the supplied battery and applicable battery or system safety reports for the destination market.
- Clearance drawings and the anchorage calculation for your wind and seismic region.
- Single-line diagram, installation manual and commissioning checklist.
- Packing list, delivery documentation and warranty registration.
Questions buyers ask
Is 100 kWh usable or nameplate?
Confirm the capacity basis on the selected model quotation. Nominal energy and usable energy differ; compare both under the same operating window and measurement conditions before selecting a cabinet.
0.25C or 0.5C?
It follows the application. Demand-charge management needs power for a short window, which points to a higher C-rate. Long backup or overnight shifting needs energy over hours, where a lower C-rate gives a longer service life.
Can it go outdoors?
Yes, where the enclosure rating and the listing allow it and where the separation and access requirements are met. Outdoor siting adds consideration of direct sun, drainage and the approach for service.
Will it work with an inverter we already have?
Sometimes. It depends on the communication protocol and the DC voltage window of the existing unit. Send both model numbers and we confirm compatibility in writing before you order.
How long does the authority review take?
It varies by jurisdiction, and it is the step most likely to move your schedule. What shortens it is a complete submittal: the listing, the UL 9540A report, clearance drawings and the anchorage calculation for your region, all for the model quoted.
What to send us
Send your interval load data if you have it, or the list of circuits and how long they must run, plus the site address and your target schedule. We come back with the configuration, the power rating and a firm delivery date rather than a range.

Tell us what has to run, and for how long
Send the circuits that must stay on, the backup duration you need, and the installation location. We size from the load rather than the other way round, and confirm the listing documentation for your authority.
